Busy making origami flowers

I've been so busy making origami flowers.  These origami flowers came out way better than the ones that I made few days ago.... I finally perfected my handmade gifts for my family & friends.  My 7 year old daughter is actually learning to make these flowers as well. She is getting good at it and helping me out. We are having a lot of fun making them:-)

Elves in our neighborhood

Oh my, little Elves are running around in our neighborhood. Over the last couple of days we've been getting door bell rings during our dinner time. When we open the door, there is no one standing, expect for the gift(s) sitting on our porch. The first night was a binder with 12 days of Christmas stories. Today was two wooden sea creatures for my girls to paint. We have an idea of who is doing this…. so we emailed one of our neighbors asking if it was them. Well, this is the response we received:  "On the Elves...well, I've heard rumors that there have been elf sightings in our neighborhood.  But I can neither confirm or deny that they've come to your house! :)"    How cute:-)  My girls are very excited and they truly believe that these little gifts are coming from Elves!

Recycled Starbucks Bottle #2

Two days ago, I wrote about my recycled Starbucks frapuccino bottles....  Basically trying to turn a recycled bottle into a gift.

As you see my pictures, I personally think that my #1 bottle came out great. However, last night, I came up with another version. This time, I made origami flowers and added them in the bottle with chocolates & candy canes.  Oh and I designed a gift tag as well.

#2
Now I can't decide which one I like the best. Can someone tell me if you like #1 or #2?  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Recycled Starbucks Bottle

I am addicted to Starbucks Frappuccino (Mocha & Mint Mocha). Well,  I've been recycling all of the bottles and did not know what to do with them until now. Yesterday, I realized that I have Holly & Pine cone trees in my yard to use them as holiday decoration. I put a red ribbon on a Starbucks Frappuccino bottle. Then, arranged holly & pine cone branches in it. I need some input on this..... What do you think? I was thinking about making more and give to my family, friends and neighbors. Any comments, remarks or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Thank you!

2 visitors in our backyard

Since we moved into our house in July 2011, we often see many wild animals (deer, skunks, coyotes, owls and etc) in our backyard. Last Sunday morning when we were eating breakfast, we saw 2 deer visiting us in our backyard. My girls got all excited. They were glued to the window just watching deer roam around in the backyard.  We love our backyard nature zoo:-)

I Love L-Bow Mittens & Gloves

My oldest wearing L-Bow Mittens. (4 years ago)
When my oldest daughter was little, I used to get frustrated the fact that the snow used to get into her winter gloves. Well, I researched around and found a product called L-Bow Mittens. It is a pair of mittens that cover all the way up to your child's elbows. Just look at my daughter's picture wearing them. I purchased a toddler size L-Bow Mittens 4 years ago and absolutely loved them. They kept my daughter warm & no snow getting inside of her mittens.

Mittens are still in a great shape.
My oldest has out grown these L-Bow Mittens and my youngest daughter will be wearing them this winter season. Even after 4 years of use, these mittens are still in a perfect shape.

I searched L-Bow brand products this morning online. I was able to purchase a new pair of L-Bow Gloves for my oldest daughter. The L-Bow mittens($19.99) / L-Bow gloves($24.99) are a bit expensive, but I rather have something that keeps my daughters' hands warm for their outdoor play in the snow. Based on my own personal experience, I highly recommend L-Bow mittens / L-Bow gloves to anyone!

I shopped through Ebates today and saved extra money on this purchase.  I  Logged-in Ebates, then went to Gander Mountain. (I got 3% cash back plus Free shipping on any order)

Amazon.com also carries them as well. However, shipping estimate was around $7.75. I tried to shop through other sites, but shipping fees were over $8. After calculating each of the store's final check out price including taxes, Gander Mountain via Ebates had the best deal. If you are looking for a great pair of mittens/gloves for your child, check out L-Bow Mittens/Gloves@Gander Mountain via Ebates today! Happy Savings!

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day everyone! I (Poppin' Mom) have a cold and feeling miserable since yesterday. At least I do not have to cook today. I bought a $25 gift card to Boston Market for only $15 from Save.com last month and it arrived just in time for Thanksgiving.  Since all of our family members don't live near us, we have been getting Boston Market meals for Thanksgiving at our house. That is kind of becoming our family tradition. We had a choice of visiting our family members on the east coast this year, but we just did not feel like traveling for 11 hours in a car with two screaming kids. Anyway, I am very thankful for things that we were able to accomplish this year and also thankful for family & friends who supported us. I'm wishing that everyone is going to have a great Thanksgiving day today!

My First Finger Knitting

I'm not really a good knitter, so I looked around and found a way to make a matching hat & scarf by just using my fingers. I found a book called "かんたん&かわいい子供のゆびあみ" (Easy & cute finger knitting book for kids) online. It is a book written in Japanese that is geared towards kids. Oh, I forgot to mention that besides English, I can speak, read and write Japanese. Anyway, I followed the instructions and it was very simple. Although this book was written in Japanese, I think anyone can learn from it.  This book had many pictures & illustrations.

Once I was done making these, my oldest daughter was very happy! Look at the pictures below.  She wore these to school yesterday and her friends were asking if theirs can be made. My daughter now wants to learn finger knitting. I might finger knit with her during Thanksgiving break.

I love handmade stuff. If you have questions about my finger knitting, feel free to leave me a comment. I might even make a tutorial in the future on YouTube....
